Overview

Working with skilled members of our team, apprentices will gain skills in building, troubleshooting, repairing and operating precision grinding equipment while simultaneously attaining an Associate Degree pathway in Automation & Control Technology with Robotics AMCT.S.AAS (Mechatronics) from Sinclair College. This role is a hybrid between classroom learning and on-the-job experience. Those selected for the apprenticeship program will receive a full scholarship from United Grinding to attend Sinclair College. Additionally, apprentices will receive full-time pay and benefits, payment for books and expenses, along with time to attend classes while “on-the-clock.”

  • Learn with the company’s assigned experienced staff
  • Participate in classes and any workshops that might take place on-site or off-site
  • Complete the prescribed tests and assignments
  • Gain knowledge, skills and experience
  • Demonstrate effort, commitment and professionalism
  • Work safely, following all rules and guidance
  • Support the production/operations team

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Including Education and Experience in Related Fields:

  • High school diploma, or GED
  • Must pass entrance exam for Sinclair College
  • Learn with the company’s assigned experienced staff
  • Participate in classes and any workshops that might take place on-site or off-site
  • Complete the prescribed tests and assignments
  • Gain knowledge, skills and experience throughout their apprenticeship
  • Learn about the industry they are in and specific best practice in that field

 

Other (Supervisory Responsibilities, Physical Demands, Travel):

  • This position requires an Apprenticeship Agreement
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  • Periodic overnight domestic and international travel may be required
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Ability to reach in all directions, bend, twist, stoop, sit, kneel, crawl, push and pull
