Overview

Works as a part of our warehouse team to serve our customers ane employees by accurately shipping and receiving materials, and tracking inventory.

Responsibilities

Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions):

  • Follows procedures to receive materials and stock warehouse, shelves or bins; picks, packs and ships orders as required from written or verbal orders using an inventory management system.
  • Shipping function includes weighing and addressing of parcels, attaching postage or making up and attaching bill of lading and commercial documents
  • Receiving function includes receiving purchase orders and put materials away in designated warehouse locations
  • Interfaces with Shipping and Brokerage vendors
  • Uses UGA business system for simple materials management transactions
  • Be able to perform inventory counts accurately
  • Uses hand trucks, forklift trucks or other methods to move cases, crates, packaged merchandise and other materials within the shipping and receiving area, including loading and unloading trucks
  • May use simple carpentry skills to assemble pre-cut, standard and/or building of non-standard crates or cartons
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness the shipping, receiving & inventory areas

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience in Related Field, Skills, etc.):

  • High school diploma or GED and 3-5 years position related experience
  • Knowledge of UGA business system or equivalent system for simple materials management transactions
  • Forklift truck experience or ability to successfully complete forklift truck certification
  • Familiar with Inventory Management Techniques
  • Requires ability to follow basic written and verbal instructions
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • A valid Ohio driver’s license

 

Preferred Qualifications (Certificates, Training, Licenses, and Experience):

  • Bi-Lingual (English/German and/or English/Spanish preferred)
  • Knowledge of Automated Inventory Storage Technology
  • Knowledge of Department of Homeland Security and US Customs Service Regulations
  • Overhead crane experience and certification
  • Customs and/or overseas shipping experience

 

Other (Supervisory Responsibilities, Physical Demands, Working Conditions, Travel):

  • Frequently required to climb ladders, drive and operate fork trucks
  • Frequently required to lift up to 60 lbs with assistance
  • Frequently exposed to a moderate to heavy noise and dust
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop for up to eight hours per day
  • There are no supervisory responsibilities with this position
